For week/year 7 of my 52 years celebration, this picture is probably earlier than the previous one (I’d guess around 1973?), but I wanted to include it anyway. My brother Neville, my late Grandma, me, and my cousin Alan. #ThrowbackThursday #52years

I was just doing my cardboard processing, collapsing shipping cartons for recycling, and was amused by some text on the bottom of the Imperfect Foods box. I like it when companies have a sense of humor (and definitely support things for cats). 📦

The Micro.blog challenge word for day 17 is “still”. The feral cats stay very still when I’m looking in their direction, to not attract my attention. Here’s Poppy cautiously watching me from one of the heated cabins under our main deck. 🐈📷 #mbfeb

I grew up reading science fiction in bed every night, but in the past few years I’ve been reading Twitter instead. Perhaps not the most soothing bedtime reading. Yesterday I decided to resume reading SF, starting with Dan Moren’s book The Caledonian Gambit. 📚

The Micro.blog challenge word for day 16 is “erudite”. Maybe the erudite folks who made the feral cat feeder could figure out that the best way to cope with low batteries when the power is off might not be to continuously dump all of the food? 🐈📷 #mbfeb

We’ve long thought about getting a whole-house generator, so our well etc can still work during a power cut. After the long outages during summer wildfires and winter storms, and the likelihood such climate changes will continue, that has jumped to the top of our priorities. 🔌

Our electricity came back on last night after dinner. Phew! It has had a couple of brownouts since then, but so far so good. Things are still very messy locally and nationally, so we could lose power again, but hopefully not. Our total: about 69 hours without power. 🔌

Still no electricity. No idea when it’ll be back on for realz. Very glad for the generator, though; it is powering our kitchen fridge/freezer, internet, and devices, and we have propane fireplaces for heat and stovetop for cooking, and water jugs. So we’re fine. 🔌

Uh oh, I jinxed myself; just after I posted that, the power blinked several times, and went off again. D’oh!

The power is back on! Yay! About 44 hours without electricity; the longest we’ve experienced. (I know other places often have much longer… and it was off longer here during our wildfire evacuation in summer, but we weren’t here to experience all of that.)
